How Did I Get Here!?

This is Niko! I adopted him about 2 years ago. When he finally became acclimated to his new home, I was able to pet him and he was the softest cat I have ever touched! Love Love Love this guy!

Growing up, I always had short haired cats and did nothing in the way of grooming them. Therefore with Niko, I continued in that mindset. I continued to pet and love on my beautiful cat but didn't brush or comb him and before I knew it Niko was covered in matted fur! THEN I tried to brush him and of course he was not having it!

That is when I began my search for someone to groom him. I called groomer after groomer and was told No, No, No. I ended up finding a groomer who was located 45 minutes away.  I arrived at the salon and there were 2 dogs already there being groomed. Niko was not happy about this and he was very scared! She cut off the matted fur and Niko looked less than beautiful but the problem was removed and I learned a very valuable lesson. I vowed never to allow his coat to get matted again!

That being said, it got me thinking… I cannot be the only person who owns a long haired cat and I can’t be the only one who has ever needed him groomed. It shouldn’t be THIS difficult to find someone who is capable of grooming cats!? 

That is when I found the National Cat Grooming Institute of America and started my training in cat grooming. I have learned so much about cat grooming as well as cat health and wellness. I learned that grooming isn't just for cutting the mats out. There are so many more benefits to cat grooming which I will go into in a later blog post. Currently, I am finishing up my training to become a Certified Feline Master Groomer, yes that is a thing! Finally there will be someone who is highly trained who will be able to help you with your kitty coat problems and educate you on kitty coat care!
